Back Pain Relief
Living with back pain?
Studies have shown that 85% of Americans will suffer from lower back pain at some point during their life.
Did you know that although the symptom can be “my back hurts“, the source of the pain could be a result of something else?
* A collapsed arch in the foot
* A knee that doesn’t track properly
* An injured hamstring that affects your sitting posture
If indeed you got up and all of the sudden your “back hurts“. you may want to schedule an appointment for a FREE spinal health screening with Dr. James Kline.
Back pain does not have to be part of your daily life
Back pain is probably the the most common reason that San Diego residents visit a chiropractor. We labor for 8+ hours and we sit in traffic while going to-and-from work, but we also have the sun, the beach, the mountains, scenic bike trails, and sports! And if that is not all, we have gym memberships too! With work and so many outdoor activities, it is possible to hurt your back if one is not careful.
Although the medical profession has yet to find a definitive solution to the lower back pain, we can tell you that prevention, strength, and maintenance are key elements to a healthy spine. The alternative requires thousands of dollars be spent on X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, prescription drugs and injections. Despite all of that effort and treatment, the best outcome a patient can hope for is to numb the pain.
Dr. Kline takes a different approach to back pain. With over 25 years’ experience in chiropractic care, Dr. Kline understands body motion. Over the years, he has been able to diagnose lower back problems with a quick, painless test and fix the source of your pain with chiropractic adjustments — that is, without unnecessary surgery, or prolonged care.
Do you suffer from back pain?
A study published in Spine tested which method worked better to treat chronic spine pain — acupuncture, spinal manipulation, or drugs.
Method: Over 100 patients randomly assigned to receive either spinal manipulation, drugs (Celebrex, Vioxx, or paracetamol), or acupuncture.
Results: “chiropractic manipulation patients did better than both drugs and acupuncture.”
The patients in the manipulation group reported 47% improvement as compared to 15% for the acupuncture group and 18% for the medicine group. The improvement was not limited to just back pain, but also included improvement of one’s overall health.
If conservative physical rehabilitation does not relive the pain, Dr. Kline is equipped to give epidural steroid injections to eliminate back pain and radicular pain so you can function normally again.
As your back heals, it is important to stay healthy. Before returning to your normal activities, we recommend doing light exercises to strengthen your back. We DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU START HERE without first getting a full evaluation. Dr. Kline will let you know when you are ready to begin!
There are specific back and abdominal exercises that strengthen the back and abdominal muscles. The back pain exercises are intended to help heal symptoms caused by injury or muscle strain. These can be done in the comfort of your living room, however, they should NEVER BE ATTEMPTED without consulting with a spine healthcare specialist.
Dr. Kline will take a detailed medical history about the pain you are experiencing, whether this is in a specific joint or muscle group or a more generalized pain. This approach allows him to pinpoint the cause of the symptoms and provide you with a unique treatment plan for your lifestyle.
